Two men from Ealing have been imprisoned after police discovered a loaded handgun, ammunition and five swords inside a BMW stopped by armed officers three days after a violent assault in Birmingham.

Sentences handed down at Wolverhampton Crown Court

The sentencing took place at Wolverhampton Crown Court last week. Gurwinder Singh, aged 25 and from Ealing, received a prison term of five years and 11 months after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm, ammunition and multiple bladed weapons. Harshehajdeep Singh, aged 21 and also from Ealing, was convicted and given six years and eight months behind bars.

Two other men connected to the same vehicle were also sentenced: Harpandeep Singh, 23, of Hackney, was jailed for seven years, and Zorawar Singh, 31, recorded as having no fixed address, received six years and two months.

How the weapons were found

Armed firearms officers stopped the BMW on the Black Country Route in Wolverhampton after the vehicle was linked to an assault in Birmingham on 12 September 2025. The earlier attack had left a construction worker severely injured, suffering broken legs and a broken arm and requiring surgical treatment.

Officers searching the car located a handgun in the front passenger footwell containing 11 rounds of ammunition, together with five swords and additional weapons elsewhere in the vehicle. West Midlands Police have released body-worn camera footage of the armed stop.

“These weapons have now been taken off the streets, and those caught with them have been put behind bars for a number of years.”

The remark was made by Detective Constable Kyle Bowering from the West Midlands Police Major Crime Unit, summarising the force's view that the seizure prevented further harm.
