Meimo, an independent Moroccan restaurant that first opened in 2012, has applied to the Royal Borough to move from its current premises at 69-70 Peascod Street to 77 Peascod Street, a unit most recently occupied by the furniture and homeware retailer Ryad Momo.

The submission to the council describes the move as neither "untested" nor "speculative", and frames the plan as a means to sustain commercial activity in the town centre. It highlights three principal benefits:

Proposed operation
If approved, the proposal would operate as a sit-down restaurant specialising in traditional Moroccan cuisine, opening daily between 9am and 11pm. To supplement trading during daytime retail hours, plans include a dedicated section at the front of the restaurant selling artisanal Moroccan dry goods and gift items such as olive oil, harissa, preserved lemons, couscous and traditional teas.
Local impact and planning considerations
The application frames the relocation as a way to prevent the loss of a local employer to a neighbouring borough and to avoid the negative visual and commercial effects of an unoccupied ground-floor unit.
