Andrew Barth Feldman, best known for his Broadway work in Dear Evan Hansen, will make his London stage debut in NERO, a new musical by Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik, at Southwark Playhouse Elephant this autumn.

The run at Southwark Playhouse Elephant is scheduled from 2 November to 5 December 2026, with a press night on 6 November. The show is directed by Lindsay Posner and reunites the Spring Awakening collaborators Sater and Sheik. Their creative team for NERO includes choreographer James Cousins, musical supervisor and vocal arranger Phil Bateman, musical director Ben McQuigg, designer Georgia Lowe, lighting designer Robbie Butler and sound designer Tony Gayle.
About the show
NERO offers a contemporary reimagining of the Roman emperor’s life, focusing on his earlier years before myth and infamy took hold. The piece follows an artist and performer who is unexpectedly thrust into power; the story explores themes of family tension, political ambition and the corrosive effect of fame. The creative team intends to draw parallels between ancient Rome and modern celebrity culture, using Sheik’s contemporary score and Sater’s lyricism.

Feldman, who gained international recognition for his performance in Dear Evan Hansen and has screen credits including No Hard Feelings, takes the title role. The production is produced by SeenSee Company and Park Myung-sung, with general management by Lambert Jackson.
