The long‑running jewellery shop on Barker’s Pool has been given a new lease of life as Loupe, the luxury boutique and Official Rolex Retailer that will formally open its doors in Sheffield city centre on Monday 3 August.
From a 165‑year history to a modern boutique
The premises, long known to shoppers as H. L. Brown, has stood on Barker’s Pool for 165 years. In recent weeks new Loupe signage appeared on the storefront and residents will now be able to explore the remodelled space when the store opens to the public.
Staff retained and local continuity
Loupe has confirmed it will be keeping many of the existing H. L. Brown team, meaning customers should still find familiar faces behind the counter. The store manager, Brett Heath, said the arrival of Loupe was an important moment for staff and clients alike.
“Opening our new Loupe boutique is a proud moment for our consultants, and we're excited to welcome new and existing clients into the beautifully transformed space,” said Mr Heath.
Loupe emphasises in its statement that the business aims to offer bespoke and personal consultations, covering luxury watches, diamond rings and jewellery. Anna Blackburn, managing director at The Beaverbrooks Group — the family business that runs Loupe — described the move as continuing the legacy of H. L. Brown while adding the group's expertise.

To mark the opening, Loupe will host a multi‑day launch. The retailer has scheduled a four‑day event from 6 to 10 August, with visitors on the Saturday offered complimentary drinks as they view the boutique.
