A 73-year-old man has died in hospital more than two weeks after he was struck by a vehicle in central Leeds, West Yorkshire Police have confirmed. The force has renewed a public appeal for witnesses to the collision on King Street, close to York Place.
Victim identified and family tribute
Police identified the man as Graham Jordan, of Brough in Humberside. Officers said he was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after the incident, which occurred at about 11.35pm on Friday 10 July. He died on Monday 27 July.
“They described him as a much-loved husband, father and grandfather. He was an active man who enjoyed keeping busy and spending time with his family. An avid Leeds United supporter, he followed the club with great interest and rarely missed a match. He will be remembered by those who knew him and missed by his family and friends.”
The force said Mr Jordan was a keen supporter of Leeds United. A spokesperson said his family paid tribute to him; they described him as a devoted family man who kept active and enjoyed spending time with relatives.
Police appeal and investigation details
West Yorkshire Police said a black Ford Tourneo taxi was travelling along York Place and turned onto King Street shortly before the collision. The taxi driver was arrested at the scene and later bailed pending further enquiries.
