Three people have entered pleas at Leicester Crown Court following the death of a 27-year-old cyclist who was attacked in the early hours along Narborough Road.

Court hearing and charges

On Thursday, two men — aged 31 and 25, both described by prosecutors as having no fixed address — denied charges of murder, manslaughter and one count of robbery. A 39-year-old woman from Noel Street also entered a not-guilty plea to a robbery charge.

Crown Court records show the men face further allegation of possessing a bladed or pointed article in a public place; one of the men denied that charge as well. The trio are scheduled to go on trial on 1 February.

Incident details and victim

Leicestershire Police say the victim, identified as 27-year-old George Glover, was struck while cycling near the junction of Narborough Road and Noel Street at around 06:30 BST on 17 August. He was taken to hospital and died three days later on 20 August.

"George was a much-loved son and big brother to his three siblings. His loss is already felt so deeply."

The tribute was released by officers on behalf of Mr Glover's family following his death.

Local context and what happens next

The case will proceed through the criminal courts, with pre-trial and disclosure processes to be completed before the February trial date. Proceedings at this stage concern the formal pleas; guilt or innocence will be determined at trial.

  • Three defendants pleaded not guilty: two men (31 and 25) and a 39-year-old woman.
  • Charges include murder, manslaughter and robbery; one defendant also denies possession of a bladed article.
  • Trial is listed to begin on 1 February at Leicester Crown Court.

Incidents of violence in the Narborough Road area have previously prompted local concern about street safety, though prosecutors and police emphasise each case is judged on its own facts. Members of the public with information about the August incident were urged at the time to contact Leicestershire Police.
