Police arrest 10 as homicide inquiry continues

Leicestershire Police have arrested ten people in connection with the death of a man in his twenties who was taken to hospital with serious chest and abdominal injuries on Wednesday night. The force said the victim later died in the early hours of Thursday as detectives launched a murder investigation.

What happened and where

Emergency services were called to London Road, near Saxby Street, at about 22:45 BST after an officer in a marked police vehicle was approached by a man suffering serious wounds. Paramedics attended and the injured man was moved to hospital, where he subsequently died.

Initial inquiries suggest the stabbing may have occurred on De Montfort Place. Officers have conducted forensic examinations at a property on London Road and maintained a scene preservation while searches were carried out. Police later lifted cordons in both De Montfort Place and London Road.

Arrests made

The force confirmed that six men, aged between 18 and 33, were detained on suspicion of murder. In addition, two men, both aged 52, and two women, both aged 43, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. One of those held on suspicion of murder also faces an allegation of being involved in the supply of a Class B drug.

  • If you witnessed the incident or saw anyone acting suspiciously in De Montfort Place or London Road around 22:45 on Wednesday, contact Leicestershire Police.
  • Preserve any relevant footage and note times and vehicle descriptions before speaking with officers.
  • Report information by calling the non-emergency number or via the force’s online reporting if you prefer to remain anonymous.

The investigation remains live and the force has not released the identity of the victim. Local residents may see an increased police presence as inquiries continue.
