A man has died after being struck by a road sweeper on Cleggs Lane in Salford.
Incident and immediate response
The collision occurred at approximately 8.16am on Tuesday 28 July 2026. The pedestrian, a 64-year-old man, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, where he later died. The driver of the road sweeper, a 39-year-old man, was not injured.
Police appeal for information
Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is carrying out enquiries. Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or who has relevant footage to come forward.
Anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has CCTV, dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage from the area is asked to contact police, quoting log 687 of 28/07/26.
