Police in the East Riding of Yorkshire have recovered three suspected stolen vehicles and arrested two men after an early-morning incident in Bridlington on 15 July.
Initial call and police response
Officers were alerted at about 2.15am following a report of a suspicious person in a garden on Kingston Close, Bridlington. The caller said an intruder wearing a balaclava had been seen and that a vehicle appeared to have been taken from the address.
Units from local patrol, the Dog Unit and the Roads Policing Unit attended. Patrol officers located one of the vehicles but it failed to stop and drove off-road into a field near Langtoft, where it was subsequently found abandoned. The vehicle will undergo forensic examination.
Linked stops and arrests
Early lines of inquiry suggested the recovered vehicle may have been part of a convoy with links to West Yorkshire. Another vehicle of interest was noted near Cherry Burton and was later intercepted after roads policing activity.
| Suspect | Age | Reported offences |
|---|---|---|
| First arrested | 51 | Multiple charges including suspicion of drink driving and burglary |
| Second arrested | 26 | Suspicion of theft, burglary and drug driving (failed roadside drug swab) |
Both men are currently in custody and are assisting with enquiries. All three vehicles will be forensically examined before they can be returned to their lawful owners.
