East Riding Leisure has unveiled a summer programme of holiday activities across its eight leisure centres, including a return of free swimming sessions for children who live in the East Riding. The offer runs from Saturday 18 July to Sunday 6 September and aims to provide families with low‑cost opportunities to stay active during the school break.

What’s on and where

Each centre will host a mix of events designed for a range of ages, such as bouncy castle activities, pool-based sessions, sports‑hall games and more. Bridlington is among the venues taking part in the free swimming scheme, which will operate alongside the broader holiday timetable.

  • Dates: 18 July–6 September
  • Free swimming sessions: two hour‑long sessions per week at participating centres
  • Session times: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 5pm–6pm (check local centre for exact days offered)
  • Eligibility: children aged 3–16 who live in the East Riding

Booking, supervision and charges

There is no pre-booking for the free swims; places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Children under eight must be accompanied in the water by an adult, and standard adult swimming charges will apply to accompanying adults. Youngsters under the age of three can use pools for free at any time.

“East Riding Leisure have put together a fantastic programme of activities for children and young people this summer, with something to suit all interests and ages,”

Councillor Nick Coultish, the council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Tourism, said the programme gives families opportunities to spend time together, stay active and helps with household budgets during the holidays.

How to find out more

Full details of holiday activities are available on the council’s site at eryc.link/school-holidays, and the free swimming timetable is published at eryc.link/freeswimming. Parents and carers are advised to check individual centre opening times and any additional rules before travelling.

This scheme is part of a county‑wide effort to provide affordable leisure options for children during the summer break, combining structured activities with informal opportunities to swim and play.
