Residents in Rosapenna Parade, north Belfast, were able to return to their properties on Friday morning after an earlier security alert led police to evacuate homes and establish cordons in the area.
Police maintain presence while searches continue
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said the incident followed the search of a property in the early hours. Although cordons have now been removed and residents allowed back into their houses, specialist officers remain at the scene conducting a continued search.
Inspector Hamilton thanked the community for its cooperation and acknowledged the disruption caused. She urged anyone with information to contact police on 101, quoting reference 133 of 17/07/26. She said a further update would be provided at a later time.
“We appreciate the inconvenience caused to residents when they were out of their homes, and we thank them for their patience and co-operation as this public safety operation was conducted.”
Local impact and community support
Earlier in the operation, those displaced were directed to the Ardoyne Community Centre. One resident told BBC News NI she was woken by officers at around 02:00 BST and instructed to leave, adding that she had gathered her children and dog before leaving the property.
- Cordons were initially placed around Rosapenna Parade and parts of Cliftonville Road.
