Southampton Airport is preparing for what its management describes as the busiest summer in recent seasons, with an estimated 147,000 departing passengers expected to use the airport between June and August — roughly a 9.8% rise on last year.
Growth driven by new routes and seasonal services
The increase follows service changes introduced this year, notably the first full summer of Loganair’s route between Southampton and Manchester and the addition of a number of easyJet leisure flights. The expanded network gives local travellers more choice for both UK and continental connections, with advertised destinations including Amsterdam, Dublin, Guernsey, Jersey, Faro, Palma de Mallorca and Alicante as well as services across the UK.
“We’re delighted to see passenger demand continuing to grow at Southampton, with around 147,000 passengers expected to depart from the airport this summer,” said Maurice Boyle, operations director at Southampton Airport.
Boyle added that the new and returning routes strengthen the airport’s connectivity and reflect increasing demand for convenient travel from the region.
