More than 100 pupils from Cwrt Rawlin Primary School took part in this year’s Caerphilly 2K, helping the school to raise in excess of £9,000 for facilities and pupil activities.
Funds to support sport and play at school
Staff at the Caerphilly school say the money will be spent on new equipment, the creation of a Daily Mile route on the playground and the establishment of an after-school 2K running club. The school secured a gift voucher for having the highest number of entrants of all participating schools.

Council praise and wider community aims
Cabinet members at Caerphilly County Borough Council welcomed the school’s achievement, linking the event to community fitness goals and pupil development. Cllr Chris Morgan, the council’s cabinet member for leisure, said:
“The Community Challenge is designed to encourage schools, families and communities to be active together, and Cwrt Rawlin has fully embraced that opportunity while raising an incredible amount for the school.”
Council deputy leader and cabinet member for education Carol Andrews added that the fundraising represents a positive outcome for pupils’ opportunities and learning environments.
“This is a fantastic achievement by the whole school community. The funds raised will help enhance opportunities for pupils and support an environment where children can learn, develop and reach their full potential.”
Looking ahead
The school’s fundraising page remains open for further donations. Meanwhile, organisers have opened entries for the 2027 Caerphilly 10K and 2K, with entry fees frozen until 30 September.
