West Yorkshire Police have arrested a fourth person in connection with a firearms discharge in Huddersfield earlier this week after officers attended a hotel in Silkwood Park, Wakefield.
Arrest follows Huddersfield shooting
The incident under investigation relates to a firearms discharge that happened on Friar Place, Huddersfield, on Tuesday 28 July. No-one was injured in that incident, although damage was caused to a building.
On the afternoon of Friday 31 July, officers located a man at a hotel in Silkwood Park. The man, described as a 20-year-old from Huddersfield, initially fled when approached by officers and suffered an injury after a fall. He was taken to hospital for treatment and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of firearm offences.
Previous arrests and current status
Three other men linked to the same investigation were arrested earlier in the week. The force confirmed that:
- an 18-year-old from Huddersfield and a 23-year-old from Huddersfield were arrested on Wednesday 29 July;
- a 19-year-old from Huddersfield was arrested on Thursday 30 July.
Those three individuals were arrested on suspicion of firearm offences and have since been either released on bail or released under investigation. A police scene remains in place at the Wakefield hotel while enquiries continue.
