There is plenty on the box for sports fans this Friday. The headline moment is the first match for Derek McInnes as Rangers manager, but viewers can also follow more Commonwealth Games action in Glasgow, the latest rounds of The Hundred and a number of domestic fixtures across rugby league, golf and snooker.
McInnes begins Rangers tenure
Former Rangers midfielder Derek McInnes will take charge of his first competitive match as Rangers manager when the new William Hill Premiership season gets under way. McInnes' side travel to Dundee United with the game kicking off at 7pm and coverage on Sky Sports Main Event. Rangers finished third last season under Danny Rohl, while Dundee United ended seventh.
Commonwealth Games: athletics, boxing and judo on the schedule
The Commonwealth Games in Glasgow continues to offer a packed schedule for Friday. The day concludes with the men’s and women’s 200m finals on the track, and track cycling at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome features the men’s and women’s 4,000m individual pursuit finals. Medals are also on the line in boxing and judo. Coverage of those events will be available on TNT Sports 2 at 8.30am and 6pm.
The Hundred and other domestic sport
At Old Trafford, Manchester Super Giants host Trent Rockets in The Hundred. The men’s match begins at 6pm with earlier women's tournament play also featuring the two clubs. Sky Sports Cricket will carry the Super Giants’ games, with coverage from 2.45pm and 6pm respectively.
There is also rugby league interest locally and nationally, with Wigan travelling to Leigh in the Betfred Super League. That evening kick-off is at 7.30pm on Sky Sports Action. Golf fans can catch round two of the AIG Women’s Open Championship on Sky Sports Main Event at 9am and 1pm, while snooker coverage from the Shanghai Masters begins with the first semi-final shown from 7am on TNT Sports 4. Tennis coverage includes the Washington DC Open for those following the North American hard-court swing.
