Milton Keynes residents have been urged to conserve water after the city’s Member of Parliament warned a hosepipe ban could last the whole month. The update follows meetings between the MP and Anglian Water as the company continues to respond to leaks and widespread reports of low pressure and supply interruptions.

What has been fixed — and what remains a concern

In a series of updates, the MP said there had been some progress on repairs but that supply problems persist in several parts of the city. Two specific leaks were reported as repaired:

  • Cranfield Road, Woburn Sands — leak fixed
  • Bow Brickhill (by the railway line) — leak fixed and road repair completed

Despite those repairs, the MP said several areas continue to suffer from low pressure and that the company and local representatives are urging residents to keep saving water to avoid further outages.

Local reports and official advice

Residents in parts of Milton Keynes have experienced low water pressure or no water. The MP named Old Farm Park and Woburn Sands among places already known to be affected, and also referred to Bow and Brickhill where low pressure is an ongoing issue.

“It’s just not good enough, which is why we’re bringing in legislation to make sure that these water companies are held to account.”

The MP encouraged anyone who is vulnerable, or who cares for a vulnerable person, to sign up to Anglian Water’s Risk Register so the company can prioritise support for those most in need.

Political pressure and next steps

Alongside operational updates, the MP said she had written to the Secretary of State to ensure the government is aware of the disruption in Milton Keynes and will continue to press Anglian Water for improvements to the water system serving the city.

For now, residents are being asked to keep to water-saving measures and to report any supply problems to their local representatives and the water company so that incidents can be logged and addressed.
