Moray Reach Out (MRO), the Buckie-based charity that provides training and services for adults with learning disabilities, has launched a fundraising drive to mark 25 years as an incorporated body and to bolster its finances for the future.
Ambitious target to secure future services
The organisation has set a bold target of raising £25,000 by the end of the year through a new Circle of Giving campaign. So far, MRO has recorded £4,703 in donations towards that goal, with a programme of events planned for the remainder of 2026.
The funds will be used to support existing services for adults with disabilities across Moray and to help the charity adapt to changing needs and economic pressures.
How the community can get involved
MRO is appealing to residents and local businesses to contribute in a range of ways, from one-off donations to sponsoring events or donating raffle prizes. The charity is also inviting people to take part in upcoming fundraisers.
- Donate directly or join the Circle of Givers.
- Offer vouchers or items for raffles and prize draws.
- Sponsor elements of events such as golf competitions.
“We are keen for local businesses to get involved and provide vouchers or raffle prizes… Funds raised will help us improve our services for adults with disabilities across Moray,”
The charity has highlighted a Texas Scramble golf event at Buckpool Golf Club on 29 August as the next major fundraiser. Businesses can sponsor nearest-the-pin prizes, winners’ prizes or donate items for a raffle that will be drawn during the event.
Background and local impact
MRO operates from its headquarters in Buckie and maintains outlets in Elgin. The organisation provides training and meaningful work opportunities intended to foster independence and pride for adults with learning disabilities. Trustees and staff say sustaining a stable financial base is essential to continue and expand those services.
Organisers have provided contact details for those interested in supporting the campaign: an email address and a telephone number. They emphasise that small contributions and practical support from businesses and individuals will accumulate to make a significant difference.
| Target | Raised so far |
|---|---|
| £25,000 | £4,703 |
As MRO marks a quarter-century since its incorporation, trustees say the Circle of Giving will play a central role in ensuring the charity can meet immediate operating needs and plan for the coming decades.
