More than 500 riders took to roads and lanes across Oxfordshire on Sunday 21 June as Bike Oxford 2026 returned in force, raising in excess of £40,000 for a record 24 local charities. The annual fundraising ride, run by Iconic Cycling Events and powered by Penningtons Manches Cooper, offered several scenic route options and attracted community groups, businesses and individual fundraisers from across the city and county.
Charities, community groups and civic support
The event brought together a wide range of partners including Royal Cars, Invivo Healthcare, Biddulph Wealth Management, Decathlon Oxford, Cowley Road Condors Cycling Club and The Oxford Cheese Company. Organisers say funds were collected through a mix of individual donations, sponsored riders and charity places arranged by the event team to reduce administrative burdens on the beneficiary organisations.
- Participants: More than 500 riders
- Total raised: Over £40,000
- Charities supported: 24 local causes across Oxfordshire
- Title partner: Sobell House Hospice (50th anniversary in 2026)
Sobell House Hospice led the fundraising effort as the event’s title partner and celebrated its 50th anniversary this year. The hospice’s team of 32 riders alone raised an impressive £18,577 for its services. Organisers have confirmed Sobell House will return as title charity partner for Bike Oxford 2027, which is scheduled for Saturday 13 June next year.
“Raising more than £40,000 for a record 24 charities is something everyone involved with Bike Oxford can be incredibly proud of. Every rider, volunteer, supporter and sponsor has played a part in helping charities continue their vital work across Oxfordshire.”
The weekend programme also included an inclusive CyclAbility session at Horspath Athletics Track on the Friday before the main ride, intended to give cyclists of all abilities a chance to ride in a supportive environment. The session was attended by Oxford’s Lord Mayor, Chewe Munkonge, underlining the event’s civic as well as charitable dimensions.
Local impact and what comes next
Funds raised will be distributed among organisations covering areas such as mental health, bereavement support, cancer services, animal welfare and other community provisions within the county. Event organisers emphasise the model of offering charity places and centrally managed fundraising reduces overheads for smaller groups while broadening public engagement with local causes.

Organisers and partners have expressed hopes that next year’s ride will build on this year’s success, increasing both participation and the total sum raised for local organisations. For many charities across Oxfordshire, the event provides a predictable and visible source of support that helps sustain services throughout the year.
