Implications for local residents
The news will be of particular concern to communities in Bury and the surrounding suburbs listed by the force. Hospitals and custodial transport arrangements are routinely used to move detainees for healthcare; absconds, while relatively uncommon, place a spotlight on the security and escort arrangements involved.
GMP have so far limited the details released about the incident. Local policing teams and hospital security partners will be working to locate Jumaa and to reassure residents. Anyone with CCTV, dashcam or other information that could assist the investigation should come forward to GMP or Crimestoppers.
InfoRadar will update this report as the force issues further information.
