Preston Bus has announced adjustments to the timetables of several services operating across the city, with changes taking effect from Monday 20 July. The company says the amendments are aimed at reflecting "the quieter traffic levels and reduced demand for services over the summer holiday period" and are largely confined to weekday morning and afternoon peak times.

Scope of the changes

According to the operator, the revisions will not affect most weekend journeys. Instead, alterations are described as minor timetable changes concentrated around peak travel periods on affected routes.

  • Effective date: Monday 20 July
  • Timing: Morning and afternoon peak periods only
  • Weekend services: No change
"Reflect the quieter traffic levels and reduced demand for services over the summer holiday period."

The company highlighted that the majority of routes will continue to operate as normal, with specific mention of the 19/19A service which links Lea/Larches, The Docks, Preston Park and Ride and Preston Railway Station. For that route, the operator states there will be minor adjustments in the morning and afternoon peaks while weekend timetables remain unaltered.

What remains unchanged

Preston Bus also provided a list of services that will not see any timetable alterations. These are services 31, 43, 44, 48, 114, 311, 312, 319 and 347. Passengers using these routes can continue to rely on current timetables.

The operator advised passengers to check the updated timetables before travelling. While the adjustments are described as limited, even small changes in peak-time services can alter commuting patterns for those who rely on punctual connections for work or education. Local employers, schools and services which align shift times with public-transport schedules may also be affected during the period the company expects reduced demand.

Further details, including full revised timetables for the affected routes, are available from Preston Bus' customer information channels. Passengers with concerns about specific journeys are being asked to review the published timetables or contact the company directly.
