Police are continuing enquiries after a man from Aberdeenshire was reported missing in Highland Perthshire. The missing person, Sandy Scott Barron, 37, from Inverbervie, was last seen on Wednesday and is believed to be travelling on foot in a remote area between Dunalastair Water and Kinloch Rannoch.
Where and when he was last seen
Officers say Mr Barron’s vehicle — a black Dacia Duster — was discovered unoccupied on a track off the B846 between Tummel Bridge and Foss. Police estimate the car has been at that location since Monday. Witness accounts place him on foot in the area south of Dunalastair Water between about 4.30pm and 8.30pm on Wednesday.
Search efforts and public appeal
Specialist search teams are working with local police to conduct enquiries across the area. Officers believe Mr Barron may be walking and could have tried to hitch a lift. Given the rural and often rugged nature of the terrain, police have asked residents to check any outbuildings, sheds or temporary shelters for signs someone may have taken refuge.
"We are grateful to everyone who has helped with our efforts to trace Sandy so far and I would urge anyone who may have seen or spoken to him to get in touch as a matter of urgency."
The force has asked anyone with information to call 101 and quote reference 2645 of 22 July, 2026. Officers say immediate contact is important and have repeated requests for anyone who may have driven through the area, spoken with him or noticed anything unusual to come forward.

Mr Barron is described as white, about 5ft 11in tall, of slim build with short brown hair. His clothing at the time of disappearance is not known, but he is believed to have been wearing dark clothing.
