Targeted checks on Box A4 see swift enforcement
Wiltshire Police recorded seven speeding drivers in just 30 minutes during a roadside operation on the A4 London Road through Box. The checks were carried out by officers from the force’s Corsham Neighbourhood Policing Team on Tuesday, 7 July, stationed at The Wharf to monitor traffic on the busy stretch.
Between 8.20am and 8.50am, an officer conducted speed checks that identified multiple vehicles exceeding the posted limit. The highest speed recorded was 52mph in a 30mph zone. According to police, six drivers will be offered a Speed Awareness Course, while one motorist, who exceeded the threshold for such an offer, will be considered for a court summons.
Police lying in wait for speeding traffic have caught a driver travelling at nearly double the speed limit on a Wiltshire A-road.
The force confirmed further enquiries are under way following the operation. Officers will review driving records linked to the vehicles identified and verify that cars are MOT compliant and properly insured. Footage gathered at the roadside is also being assessed for any additional offences, including potential mobile phone use behind the wheel and failure to wear a seatbelt.
