Falkirk have strengthened their squad for the coming season by securing the season-long loan of Northern Ireland Under-21 international Aodhan Doherty from Blackburn Rovers.

Doherty, aged 20, penned a new four-year contract with Blackburn before joining Falkirk on loan. The move comes as the Bairns look to replace the creative output lost when Calvin Miller departed for Hearts and to add options in attack.

The winger arrived at Blackburn last summer after 14 appearances for Linfield in Northern Ireland's top division. Falkirk manager John McGlynn said the club had tracked Doherty for some time and that the signing is not a straight like-for-like replacement for Miller.
