The city centre will be transformed into a month-long family destination from Saturday 1 August when Summer in the City opens on Yorkshire Day.
What to expect in the heart of Doncaster
The programme, organised by City of Doncaster Council with support from the Government's Pride in Place Fund, brings a mix of paid and free attractions aimed at families and visitors. Events will run from Thursday to Sunday each week throughout August, with an extended finale across the August Bank Holiday weekend including Bank Holiday Monday.
At the centre of the scheme will be a beach-style area laid out in the main square, complete with sand, mini golf and children’s rides – a seaside experience brought into town for those who do not travel to the coast.

More than 20 groups and organisations are involved, contributing workshops and drop-in sessions. The offer includes arts and crafts, circus-skills sessions, yoga classes and a range of sporting activities suitable for different ages.
