Large HGV blaze in Earlestown sends smoke across Warrington; residents told to keep windows closed

Firefighters are attending a significant blaze at an industrial premises in Earlestown after a heavy goods vehicle and two trailers became involved in the fire on Monday evening. Thick smoke from the incident was reported to be visible for miles around, including across parts of Warrington.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service confirmed crews were alerted at 20:44 and arrived at the scene in Junction Lane by 20:49. Four fire engines are reported to be at the incident. On arrival, firefighters found an HGV loaded with hay well alight, with two adjacent trailers also burning.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are currently tackling the blaze using two hose-reel jets. The service described the incident as ongoing and warned of a large amount of smoke in the area.

"Crews were alerted at 8.44pm and arrived at the scene at 8.49pm... A large amount of smoke is in the area. Residents nearby should keep doors and windows closed."
