Leicestershire Police have launched a major investigation after a man in his 20s died following a stabbing in Leicester city centre late on Wednesday night.
Incident and immediate response
Officers were alerted shortly after 10.45pm on Wednesday, 22 July when a man with significant chest and stomach injuries approached police while inside a vehicle on London Road, close to Saxby Street. He was taken to hospital but died in the early hours of Thursday morning.
A post-mortem examination found the man had sustained multiple injuries, including three stab wounds. Detectives believe the attack took place in De Montfort Place.
Arrests and ongoing enquiries
Six men — two aged 21, and others aged 33, 20, 19 and 18 — were arrested on suspicion of murder on Thursday, 23 July and remain in police custody. In addition, four people (two men aged 52 and two women aged 43) were detained on suspicion of assisting an offender; those four have since been released on bail.

Police appeal to the public
Investigating officers have been conducting enquiries in the surrounding area, with sightings of officers at an address in Sparkenhoe Street, Highfields, on 24 July. Detectives have asked anyone who has not yet spoken to police but who may have information to come forward.
