Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said the first report was received on 24 July at around 7pm. Witnesses described a man in a company vehicle behaving inappropriately while driving in the Church Green area of King's Worthy. Similar conduct was reported later when a male was observed between a hedge and a van on Springvale Road.

Officers were contacted again at roughly 5am on 25 July after further reports of an individual exposing himself from a company van on the same street. It was reported that the driver flashed his lights and beeped to attract a victim's attention.
