The Manse Road Play Park in Kirkwall has reopened to the public after a programme of redevelopment that the Orkney Islands Council says has created the county’s first fully inclusive play space.

Work on the site began in December and involved excavation and removal of ageing equipment, the construction of a new parking area at the Kirkwall location, followed by groundworks and the installation of new play structures. The groundworks were carried out by R. S. Clouston and the play equipment by ScotPlay.

Design and community involvement
The council says the project was developed in close co-operation with Inclusive Orkney, whose contributions shaped the layout and choice of accessible equipment.
