Winsford is set to receive a significant boost to its local public transport from early autumn, with an enhanced W7 circular service confirmed for launch on 1 September as part of a 12‑month trial.
Hourly service and longer operating day
Cheshire West and Chester Council has agreed changes with operator D&G Bus that will see the W7 run hourly and for much longer each day. The first journey is scheduled at 7.17am and the last at 5.38pm, a substantial extension on the current late‑morning to early‑afternoon window.

“We know how important good local bus services are to residents, helping people access work, education, healthcare, shops and leisure opportunities,” said Cllr Karen Shore, deputy leader of the council and cabinet member for transport and highways. “By working closely with D&G Bus, we've identified a practical and cost-effective way to maintain and enhance a circular bus service for Winsford while delivering additional benefits for passengers.”
Cllr Shore added that the approach makes better use of existing resources, strengthens links to the rail network and neighbouring towns, and provides value for money. The year-long pilot will be used to understand how residents make use of the improved timetable and connections.
