Bradford crews tackle two separate grass fires in Calverley and near Bolton Woods Quarry

Multiple fire crews respond to afternoon blazes

Firefighters from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were deployed to two separate incidents in and around Bradford on Tuesday afternoon, with around a dozen appliances attending both scenes.

The first call came at 3.14pm reporting a grass fire in the Woodall Hills area of Calverley. Crews found a blaze covering approximately 150 metres by 50 metres, and four fire engines remained at the scene to bring it under control.

Shortly afterwards, at 3.38pm, a second incident was reported on Poplars Park Road near Bolton Woods Quarry. Eight fire crews were mobilised to tackle that fire.

"At 15:14 we were called to the Woodall Hills area of Calverley. Four crews are in attendance tackling a grass fire that is approximately 150x50sq metres. At 15:38 we were called to Poplars Park Road to reports of a fire. Eight crews are currently in attendance."
