The floodlights that once lit up match nights at Boston United’s old York Street ground were taken down at the end of last month by a local Lincolnshire company with a personal history linked to the club.
Local firm tasked with careful dismantling
ECIS (East Coast Infrastructure Services), based in the county, completed the removal. The business’s managing director, Kieron Major, said the job carried extra meaning because of childhood memories in and around the club.
Major, who set up ECIS just over two years ago, explained how his family and upbringing connected him to York Street. He previously played for Boston United Juniors and remembers playing a cup final on the York Street pitch and attending matches with his grandfather.

ECIS specialises in specialist access solutions and has worked on major National Grid projects across the UK. The firm employs around 20 people and operates from sites at Bicker Fen, Metheringham and Navenby. During the removal project, the team spoke with locals who stopped to watch the work, explaining that a home-grown company was carrying out the specialist operations.

As part of its community commitment, ECIS will donate £250 to the Boston United Foundation and has offered the club a discounted installation service. The company also shared photographs of the dismantling work, including images showing local people alongside the site.
