Progress reported as multi-phase roadworks continue
Work on the Spalding to Pinchbeck active travel improvements has advanced through July and will carry on through the summer and autumn, Lincolnshire County Council has confirmed. The scheme is being delivered in several discrete phases along the route between West Elloe Avenue and Woolram Wygate, with a mixture of footway construction, drainage, traffic signal installation and utility work under way.
According to the council's update, crews completed the National Grid works for the first phase and have finished around 65% of the west-side footway for Phase 1. Preparation for Phase 2 has included trial holes to check the depth of existing apparatus, breaking out old kerbs and footways and installing new traffic signal equipment.

Planned activity for August includes finishing the west-side footway in Phase 1, clearing vegetation to allow lighting column installation in Phase 2, completing footway and drainage works for Phase 2 and putting in the new traffic signal installation for that section.

- Phase 3 – Park Road to Woolram Wygate (early September to late October): one-way northbound on Pinchbeck Road north of Park Road; Woolram Wygate closed 24/7.
- Phase 4 – Hospital Road to Woolram Wygate (early September to mid‑December): one-way northbound on Pinchbeck Road; access to the hospital from the north will be maintained.
The council has published diversion routes for each closure and warns that further phases will bring additional temporary traffic arrangements. Some works will require permanent closures where they abut rail level crossings; these closures are in place for safety given proximity to the tracks.
