Officers from Lincolnshire Police, supported by Trading Standards and Immigration Enforcement, carried out inspections at four businesses across Grantham and Bourne on 23 July. The operation uncovered illegal tobacco products and disposable vapes, and — in an unusual twist — a fresh delivery of cannabis plants arrived while a raid was in progress and was seized at the scene.

- Cannabis plants delivered to a Grantham shop during the raid;
- Illegal cigarettes and cannabis vapes hidden inside a large rucksack stored in a vehicle near a shop in Bourne;
- Further unauthorised tobacco and vaping products taken by Trading Standards for examination.
After the search of one Grantham shop, immigration officers arrested two men — one from Pakistan and one from Afghanistan — the force confirmed. A civil penalty referral notice was also issued to a store in Grantham for employing one of the men illegally.

He also highlighted a rise in disposable vapes containing cannabis and noted councils were working with schools to help young people spot them.
McGonigle said these outlets not only undercut law‑abiding businesses, they also pose risks to public safety — particularly for children and vulnerable people. Police emphasised that cannabis vapes are illegal and may contain unknown and potentially harmful substances.
