Staffordshire Police have confirmed a murder investigation after a man in his mid-40s was fatally stabbed on Ridgway Road near Hanley Park in the Shelton area of Stoke-on-Trent.

The man, aged 44, was found on Ridgway Road on the evening of Thursday, 23 July, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Part of Hanley Park was cordoned off while officers conducted enquiries.
Arrests and investigation
Police have arrested five males in connection with the death. Those detained include men aged 19, 20 and 25, and a 17‑year‑old boy. A further 19‑year‑old man from Stoke‑on‑Trent was arrested later on Monday.
