A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm (GBH) following an incident in Southend city centre earlier this month, Essex Police have confirmed.

Officers had been carrying out enquiries after an assault in Gordon Road, at the junction with Queen’s Road, at around 2:30pm on Saturday 11 July. Following an appeal to identify a man seen in connection with the incident, a suspect was detained on Thursday 30 July.
The individual, described only as a man aged in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm. He has since been questioned and bailed pending further enquiries, police said.
