That equates to almost half of passengers standing at peak load.
Another Bedford-originating Thameslink service, arriving at St Pancras at 08:24, was also listed, coming in fifth nationally with an average of 55% more passengers than seats.
Local impact
For Bedfordshire residents who travel daily to London, those percentages reflect the moments when trains are most congested, typically between suburban stops and central London. While the figures do not capture overcrowding at every point of the journeys, they nonetheless point to routine standing-room conditions for many commuters on weekday mornings.
