National Highways has warned drivers in Hampshire to expect a series of overnight closures on the M3 and M27 this weekend to allow major improvement and repair works to proceed. The restrictions are due to take place during late evening and early morning hours between Friday 31 July and Sunday 2 August.
What is closing and when
On the M3, entry and exit slip roads and the roundabout at Junction 9 will be closed from 9pm on Friday until 6am on Monday so that significant improvement work can be carried out. One of the entry slip roads will remain shut for an extended period, with the closure lasting until 1 November 2027, meaning there will be no access to the M3 northbound from that roundabout for the foreseeable future.
Works on the M27 are more limited but will include:
- Westbound entry and exit slip road closures at Junction 3 between 9pm on Friday and 6am on Saturday for electrical work, with part of the roundabout also partially closed in the east, south and west directions.
- An exit slip road closure on the M27 eastbound at Junction 12 during the same hours to allow barrier and fence safety repairs.
