Multiple streets to close for short-term utility and service works
Residents and motorists across Sandwell are being advised to plan ahead as a series of short-term road closures and restrictions come into force to allow utility connections and repair works to be carried out. The works affect routes in Tipton, Wednesbury, Cradley Heath and Oldbury over the next fortnight, with diversions signposted locally. Official notices have been published on the Public Notice Portal.
Where and when the closures apply
According to the notices, the following routes will be subject to temporary prohibitions on traffic. Access to properties will be managed on a safety-first basis and diversions will be in place for through traffic.

Access and safety arrangements
Works are being undertaken to enable essential service connections and repair activity. While closures are in place, the notices confirm that
"Access to affected frontages will be maintained when safety permits". Drivers should follow signed diversion routes and allow extra time, particularly during busy periods.
What motorists should do now
- Check the Public Notice Portal for any late changes to dates or extents of closures.
- Plan alternative routes in advance if you usually travel on the affected stretches.
- Avoid parking on the closed sections during the stated times to keep works on schedule.
The closures at New Cross Street and Station Road are of shorter duration, concluding by 16–21 July, while the works around Crankhall Lane and the adjoining section of Keir Road run until 31 July. The Penncricket Lane restriction is limited to daytime hours on 16 July. All dates are subject to operational conditions on site.
