Carlisle United finished their pre-season programme with a composed 3-0 victory over a Derby County Under-21s XI, scoring three second-half goals as they tested combinations and game sharpness ahead of the new campaign.
Second-half quality settles contest
The match was scoreless at the break, but United emerged from the interval the more incisive side. Stephen Wearne opened the scoring on 55 minutes, converting after bursting onto a through ball from Jack Ellis. The visitors doubled their advantage moments later when substitute Regan Linney finished from a pass by fellow second-half introduction Callum Whelan.
