Emergency responders attended a significant fire on Normanton Road in Derby on Saturday afternoon after reports of a blaze that began in a garden and spread to neighbouring properties.

Incident and response
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews were alerted at 13:16 BST. On arrival, firefighters found the fire had extended from the initial garden to three properties. Crews from Long Eaton, Heanor and Kingsway were deployed, with additional support sent from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service stations at Highfields and Stapleford.
Derbyshire Police confirmed that several roads were closed while emergency services worked at the scene and that nearby properties had been evacuated as a precaution. Officers remain in the area to carry out enquiries and a cordon was in place around the affected property.

Police said the following junctions had been closed during the response but were reopened once the situation was made safe:
- Entrance to College Park, Normanton Road at the junction with Lara Croft Way
- Normanton Road at the junction with Wilmot Street West
- Normanton Road at the junction with Leopold Street
Officers stressed there were no reported injuries following the incident. Fire crews have launched an investigation into the cause of the blaze.
