The Do It for East Yorkshire (DIFEY) Community fund is inviting applications from voluntary and community organisations, charities and town and parish councils across the East Riding. The scheme is designed to support community-led initiatives that deliver social benefit and improve local places.
Who can apply and what the money can pay for
Grants are available in amounts between £1,500 and £5,000. The fund targets projects with clear local impact, including but not limited to:
- creative events, festivals and cultural activities;
- projects that promote health, wellbeing and social connection;
- accessibility and infrastructure improvements;
- initiatives to enhance community safety or perceptions of safety;
- improvements to green spaces and the local environment.
Groups are advised to check eligibility before applying and to speak with the council’s Local Growth Team to ensure proposals meet the fund’s requirements.
Deadlines and delivery
Applications will be accepted until Wednesday 30 September, or until all available funding is allocated. Successful projects must be fully completed and financially closed by Sunday 31 January 2027.

The fund has already supported a variety of local projects. Examples provided by the council include improvements to Rise Village Hall, the creation of a sensory garden in Bridlington, broadband enhancements for a community pavilion in South Cave, and a cultural events programme in Hedon. These illustrate the range of activities the fund can enable, from capital works to cultural programming.
