Bridgend County Borough Council has granted permission to replace a strip of domestic garages near Canberra Road with a small apartment block containing six one‑bed flats, following a planning committee decision in July 2026.

A representative for the applicant told the committee that some of the flooding issues were linked to faults in Welsh Water infrastructure and said the housing association could not directly work on third‑party assets without agreement from Welsh Water. They indicated willingness to raise the matter with relevant parties and to submit a sustainable drainage strategy.
Officers confirmed that an attenuation system is planned beneath the car park and that an amendment addressing drainage was approved by the committee.
