A man has been arrested and charged after a Land Rover reported taken during a burglary in Stockton-on-Tees was found following a crash into a wall, police have confirmed.
Vehicle taken from Ashmore Gardens and later found after collision
The incident began on Tuesday when residents on Ashmore Gardens reported that watches and a Land Rover Discovery had been stolen from outside a house between around 9am and 10.30am. Following a number of sightings, the vehicle was tracked southbound on the A19 and ultimately located by officers after it had collided with a wall.
Two people were taken to hospital to be checked over after the collision, police said. A 51-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with burglary and aggravated vehicle taking. He was remanded in custody and appeared at Teesside Magistrates' Court.

The case underlines the value of inter-force co-operation and timely public reporting in locating stolen vehicles and arresting suspects. Officers from Stockton CID worked alongside response teams and colleagues from North Yorkshire Police to trace the Land Rover after it left the Cleveland area.
