Bedfordshire Police have opened a murder probe after a 17-year-old boy died following a stabbing at Kingsway Recreation Ground in Luton on Friday evening. Officers were called at about 6.30pm amid reports that a group of teenagers were seen carrying large knives.
What happened
Emergency services took a 17-year-old male to hospital with multiple stab wounds. He died a short time later, police confirmed. The deceased has not yet been formally identified; specially trained officers are supporting his family.

Investigation and policing
Detectives from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit have taken charge of the inquiry. Police say there is an increased visible presence in the area while officers carry out enquiries.
"Horrific violence in Luton has sadly cost a teenage boy his life today," said Detective Chief Inspector Nick Gardener.
Two teenagers have been detained in connection with the incident. One is in police custody on suspicion of violent disorder; a second remains in hospital with serious injuries and was also initially arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.
Appeal to the public
Detectives have asked anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has information that could assist the investigation, to speak to police. Officers have also warned against sharing images or videos of the event on social media and urged anyone who has such material to hand it to investigators instead.
