Godolphin's Beiwacht produced a commanding performance in a 900-metre Group trial at Warwick Farm on Tuesday, leading throughout to underline his standing among the spring's chief sprint prospects. The colt, winner of the Golden Rose and the All Aged Stakes, led a strong Godolphin showing in a session that also featured several other declared headline acts.
Front-running performance and trainer confidence
The victory was achieved with Beiwacht prominent from the outset, a performance that prompted a positive assessment from rider Nash Rawiller, who said the colt "felt great, really strong" after the trial. Trainer Chris Waller described Beiwacht as "a mature colt now" and indicated the four-year-old could sharpen further as the spring unfolds. Waller added that, if the horse continues to progress, his optimum trip and competitive ceiling remain encouraging.
Other notable runners and trial context
Godolphin provided a quinella when the gelded Attica finished second. Attica, the former Spring Champion Stakes winner, had an interrupted autumn campaign but produced a promising work, travelling well alongside Beiwacht with plenty in hand for his jockey Adam Hyeronimus. Tornado Valley completed the top three.
