The closure affects the section of the C5008 from its junction with the U5038, running north-easterly then north-westerly to its junction with the C4028. The works will be centred on Duddon Bridge, near Broughton-in-Furness.

Motorists are being directed to use an alternative route for the duration of the closure. The council has indicated the diversion will run via:
- unrestricted section of the C5088
- A593
- A595
- Silecroft Lane
- Stella Brow
- then back to the C4028
