Family tribute and appeal
His cousin, Jennifer Smith, described a relaxed and generous young man who was close to his family and friends. She recalled spending holidays together and spoke of the shock among relatives as they come to terms with the loss. "I think he just wanted to wade in the shallow part of the water... There's like a drop off, I guess, and he didn't realize it and got in the deep part. He didn't know how to swim. He just panicked is what I was told."
