Muse has been appointed to prepare a masterplan for major development sites on the eastern and western sides of Bletchley station, the company and Milton Keynes Development Partnership (MKDP) have announced.
What is proposed
The plans are described as a long‑term, town‑centre brief and are intended to knit the station more closely into Bletchley’s shopping and community heart rather than leaving the two station sites to be developed in isolation. The masterplan will combine residential, commercial and public‑realm elements, with the developer saying proposals will include:
- affordable housing, build‑to‑rent units and homes for private sale;
- retail and active commercial uses at ground level to animate streets and support local businesses;
- community facilities and improvements to public space to create better links between the station and the town centre.
Details such as the total number of homes and a delivery timetable have not yet been published. Public consultation and design work are expected to begin in the coming months, with detailed planning proposals to follow.
Station access and wider funding
The appointment comes as part of a wider programme of improvements to the station and surrounding area. A new eastern entrance to Bletchley station is being funded through a combination of government and council money to provide a direct pedestrian link to Queensway, the town’s main shopping street.

The regeneration is being advanced as Bletchley prepares to become an interchange on East West Rail, the planned route linking Oxford and Cambridge via Milton Keynes and Bedford. The new neighbourhood and improved station access are being designed to take advantage of that change in the station’s role.
Muse will carry out the masterplanning work in partnership with MKDP and the local community. The developer’s project announcement described the assignment as a long‑term commitment to the town centre. Public consultation is expected to form part of the early stages of the work.
