A Nottingham man has been jailed for two years and subjected to a countywide ban from Tesco and Poundland shops after a string of thefts linked to a drug addiction, a court has heard.

Jordan Mawer, 29, of Holland Road, Radford, admitted eight counts of theft and breaching a suspended sentence at Nottingham Crown Court. The offending took place at a number of Tesco supermarkets and other retail premises at Castle Retail Park between 18 April and 28 June this year.
On Tuesday 21 July, the judge jailed Mawer for two years and imposed a five‑year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO). The terms of the CBO prohibit him from entering any Tesco or Poundland store in Nottinghamshire and from going into any retail premises at Castle Retail Park. The order also requires Mawer to engage with drug rehabilitation services and to attend all appointments.

PC Phil Yates, of Nottinghamshire Police's city centre policing team, said he had known Mawer for a number of years and hoped Mawer would get help while in custody to turn his life around.
