Derbyshire police have launched an investigation after a car carrying five people left the carriageway of the A38 and struck trees late on Saturday night, closing the road for several hours.

Emergency services were called to the incident at about 11pm on 25 July on the stretch of the A38 between the A50 (Toyota Island for Willington) and the A516 (for Mickleover).
